The nexus of
Culture - Connectivity - Creativity

Culture anchors and identifies national communities through time and space. Culture is a living whole of myriad diversities, which evolves through time and life, and infuses national traditions with the breath of the times and of humanity.
Culture must be creative if it is to endure, each future generation nurturing, renewing, and enriching further the nation’s cultural heritage.
Thanks to technology, the Viet community and each Vietnamese as well as each individual of Vietnamese descent can connect, interact, and create more effective momentum and needed resources to spur and nurture creativity.
The Forum hopes to showcase the crucial circular linkages between these 3 Cs

Culture

In all its (time, type, and form) dimensions is what endures through time and tests and trials of life and history. It is, can be and should be what brings people of shared descent together. The Forum hopes to show how the Vietnamese treasure and breathe life in innumerable forms into the vastness and depths of Viet culture in its rich interactions and manifestations.

Connectivity

The advances of technology enable the connectivity needed to foster and facilitate contacts, interaction, exchanges, and effective and meaningful cooperation among Vietnamese inside and outside the country – Connectivity brings Vietnamese together, as well as Viet Nam and the Vietnamese to the world and the world to Viet Nam and the Vietnamese.

Creativity

As Viet Nam breaks free from widespread poverty into a truly developing country, steadily rising and integrating the global supply chain and the world economy, Viet Nam and the Vietnamese are demonstrating creativity in various fields (from technological to artistic) and forms, which needs to be further stimulated and nurtured so as to enable Vietnamese culture to blossom into the future.

10 plenary sessions & discussions according to main themes

1. Plenary session and six panel discussions on Nation brand & Viet identity:

  • Viet Nam nation brand
  • Brand for Ho Chi Minh City
  • Viet identity (Identity of the Vietnamese and of the Vietnamese people)
  • What brand of tourism for Vietnam?

2. Four discussions on major orientations for 2045

  • The role of Technology
  • The role of Agriculture
  • The role of Human Resources & People
  • The role of Culture

3. Gala dinner

10 Interactive engagement sessions around two foci:

1. The circular engagement between Vietnamese in the country & overseas:

  • Discussion about the "returning" experiences of alumni from overseas schools
  • Discussion about successes & challenges for "Overseas Vietnamese" returning to live and work in the country
  • Presentation of overseas Vietnamese initiatives related to Viet Nam/ involving Viet Nam & Vietnamese

2. The crucial role of youth: Showcasing & stirring up creativity & innovative initiative

  • Conversation among young achievers about the drive to rise, create and excel
  • Sharing about the ambition & success of young scholars & experts to break out into the world
  • Pitching contest - A special pitching contest around the three themes of the Forum, especially directed toward youth (18-23 years old)
  • Story-telling by two young overseas Vietnamese about the journey back to the roots
  • Conversation with influencers

3. Other activities

  • “Tedx style” talks (around the three themes of the Forum)
  • Artistic performance (traditional & modern music)
  • Gala dinner

Survey on VN Nation Brand and Viet Identity

The Vietnam Nation Brand and Viet Identity survey was advised by a group of professional scholars and accompanied by C+P Consulting Asia, GCOMM market research company, Redbridge and Vietsuccess. Simultaneously conducted a quantitative survey with a scale of 500 samples and a qualitative survey that reached 75 prestigious individuals at home and abroad from a variety of backgrounds in two forms: focus group discussion. and in-depth interviews. The survey’s summary report was compiled with the participation of PhDs and graduate students from domestic and foreign universities. The results of the Survey will be announced, reported and discussed at the Forum. (Currently we are collecting more people’s opinions on: In your opinion, what are the 3 characteristics of Vietnamese that guide and shape the Vietnamese nation brand?)

Viet Nam's Many Faces & Facets A Bright Stirring Human Mosaic

As part of the Viet Nam Moment/ Viet Nam’s Moment, the Forum will display an interactive digital mural/ pictural mosaic: the first sample of a rich and diverse galaxy of inside and outside Viet individuals who are part of the Viet Nam Story and should provide a source of pride and resolve. Especially it should inspire Vietnamese youth, at home and overseas, and dare innovate and excel to keep forging ahead for all Viet people.

This mosaic offers only the first illustrative sample of the outstanding Viet men and women within Viet Nam and overseas, young and old, who contribute to the Viet Nam Story. This first edition calls for suggestions and recommendations towards the second edition, to be hopefully released at the second Viet Nam Forum.

    Prof. Vo Tong Xuan

    Prof. Vo Tong Xuan is the former vice-rector of Can Tho University, former rector of An Giang University… and was awarded the title of Labor Hero and People’s Teacher by the State. He is the author of many valuable research works, textbooks, books, and reference materials serving agricultural production not only domestically but also internationally. Especially in the years 1980 – 1985, he introduced IR36 and MTL30 varieties, which were most popular in the Western provinces. Not only famous domestically, his research also brings many benefits to poor countries in Africa.

    Nguyễn Thục Quyên

    Giáo sư

    GS. Nguyễn Thục Quyên, Giáo sư Khoa Hóa & Hóa sinh tại Đại học California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), Đồng Chủ tịch Hội đồng Sơ khảo Giải thưởng VinFuture. Bà chính thức giảng dạy và nghiên cứu tại Đại học California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) từ hè năm 2004. Trong sự nghiệp khoa học, Giáo sư Nguyễn Thục Quyên đã nhận được nhiều giải thưởng danh giá, bao gồm Giải thưởng Nghiên cứu viên Đổi mới và Năng lực Cạnh tranh Hoa Kỳ của Quỹ Khoa học Quốc gia (2010), Giải thưởng Nghiên cứu Cao cấp Alexander von Humboldt (2015), và Nghiên cứu viên của Hiệp hội Hóa học Hoàng gia (2016), và nhiều giải thưởng danh gia khác.

    Giáo sư Quyên đã được bình chọn là Top Trí tuệ Khoa học có Ảnh hưởng nhất Thế giới trong các năm 2015, 2016, 2017 và 2018. Bà cũng nằm trong danh sách Top 1% Nhà nghiên cứu Khoa học Vật liệu được Trích dẫn Nhiều nhất thế giới theo Thomson Reuters và Clarivate Analytics.

    Prof. Nguyen Thuc Quyen is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) as well as Chair of the Pre-Screening Committee. She joined the faculty of the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department at UCSB in summer 2004.

    Prof. Thuc-Quyen Nguyen is among the Top 1% Highly Cited Researchers in Materials Science and Cross-Field by Thomson Reuters and Clarivate Analytics. In addition, she has received numerous prestigious honors and awards, including: The 2015-2019 World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds; The 2019 Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science; The 2019 Hall of Fame – Advanced Materials; The 2016 Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry; The 2015 Alexander von Humboldt Senior Research Award; and many more.

    Mdm, Ton Nu Thi Ninh is President of HPDF. Today she is engaged in the socio-cultural sphere, working to promote Viet Nam’s sustainable development, empowerment of women and youth, and contribute to Viet Nam’s more effective international integration and nation branding. Through her frequent interaction with the public, especially women, youth and the media, she is known as one of the public figures with a meaningful voice in Viet Nam.

    Mr. Le Quoc Vinh is Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Le Group of Companies, with four member companies including Le Media, Le Bros, Le Digital, and Creativa. These member companies are all leading companies in Vietnam in publishing, journalism, communications, marketing, public relations and event organization. He leads the industry with many years of journalism, marketing, and communications expertise.
