Dr. Dang Kim Sơn

Former Director General of the Institute for Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development

Dang Kim Sơn, an agricultural engineer, graduated from Hanoi University of Agriculture in 1976, and later earned his PhD in Agronomy at the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences in 1992, and received a Master’s degree in Development Economics from Stanford University in 1996. He has written 14 books published between 1978 to 2024 in addition to many articles in academic journals.

During his career, he has held many distinguished positions, such as Deputy Director of Policy Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (until 2000), Director of Institute of Policy and Strategy – Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (until 2015), and Director of Institute of Agriculture Market and Institution Research (until 2022). In 2024, he was elected Vice President of the Association of Enterprises for High-Tech Agricultural Applications. Additionally, he served on the World Economic Forum’s panel of food experts, participating in the forum in Davos from 2010 to 2015, and was a member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Panel during 2008 – 2016. He was also included in Central Theoretical Council of the Communist Party of Vietnam from 2011 to 2020 and Asia-Pacific Agricultural Policy (APAP) Roundtable from 2002 to 2022.

Dang Kim Son assisted the Lao government in shaping its agricultural strategy in 2013 and drafted the ‘Restructuring Vietnam’s Agricultural Sector’ plan for 2017-2020, supported by the World Bank in 2016. In addition, he also serves as a senior expert in the Mekong Agricultural Policy Research Network (Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Myanmar) from 2017 to 2024.

Ho Chi Minh City Peace and Development Foundation was established by the decision of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, which is a member of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO). The foundation operates on a voluntary, non-profit basis.

Prof. Vo Tong Xuan

Prof. Vo Tong Xuan is the former vice-rector of Can Tho University, former rector of An Giang University… and was awarded the title of Labor Hero and People’s Teacher by the State. Prof. Nguyen Thuc Quyen is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) as well as Chair of the Pre-Screening Committee. She joined the faculty of the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department at UCSB in summer 2004.

Prof. Thuc-Quyen Nguyen is among the Top 1% Highly Cited Researchers in Materials Science and Cross-Field by Thomson Reuters and Clarivate Analytics.
