Bui Thac Chuyen

He started making films in 1991.
He studied film directing from 1997 to 1999 at Hanoi Academy of Theater and Cinema. In 2000, he was the first Vietnamese director to win the award at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival (Cinéfondation) with the graduation film “Night Run”.

He makes both feature films and documentaries. In each genre, he has achievements recognized at the world’s leading film festivals such as Cannes, Venice or in national film festivals.

He has made many documentaries and promotional films for famous brands such as Toyota, Vietnam Airlines, Viettel…, the new Lotus logo advertisement for Vietnam Airlines in 2004, documentaries for the 20th anniversary of TOYOTA VIETNAM, 30th anniversary of Viettel and many other documentaries.

In 2001, he directed a documentary about the Hunger eradication and poverty reduction in the northern mountainous provinces of Vietnam Project. The project is funded by SIDA and implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

In 2016, he was invited by The Geneva International Center for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) to be a consultant for the documentary film “Joining hands to overcome the consequences of landmines” by Military TV station.

In 2002, he founded and operated The Centre for Assistance and Development of Movie Talents (TPD) – Vietnam Cinema Association, which implemented short film projects, built the first film library in Vietnam by The Ford Foundation sponsors to support the careers of young Vietnamese film talents.

Ho Chi Minh City Peace and Development Foundation was established by the decision of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, which is a member of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO). The foundation operates on a voluntary, non-profit basis.

Prof. Vo Tong Xuan

Prof. Vo Tong Xuan is the former vice-rector of Can Tho University, former rector of An Giang University… and was awarded the title of Labor Hero and People’s Teacher by the State. He is the author of many valuable research works, textbooks, books, and reference materials serving agricultural production not only domestically but also internationally. Especially in the years 1980 – 1985, he introduced IR36 and MTL30 varieties, which were most popular in the Western provinces. Not only famous domestically, his research also brings many benefits to poor countries in Africa.

Prof. Nguyen Thuc Quyen is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) as well as Chair of the Pre-Screening Committee. She joined the faculty of the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department at UCSB in summer 2004.

Prof. Thuc-Quyen Nguyen is among the Top 1% Highly Cited Researchers in Materials Science and Cross-Field by Thomson Reuters and Clarivate Analytics.
